Company 13 was dispatched to 3112 Depot Road in Rustburg for a reported Structure on Fire. Upon arrival, units found a large commercial structure with heavy fire showing. Four companies from Campbell County responded.

The Concord Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual Fireman’s Carnival on Saturday, May 3rd at The Concord Volunteer Fire Department on Richmond Hwy (HWY 460) in Concord. Games for all ages will begin at 10 AM at the station.

Firefighters from Concord and Pamplin met Tuesday night to train together on Vent Enter Search & Search and Rescue techniques. A discussion was held on how to effectively use Vent Enter Search techniques.

Company 13 was dispatched to a chimney fire on Peaksview Lane. Upon arrival, 1308 sized up a single story wood frame structure with light smoke coming from the chimney. Moments later, Engine 13-1 (PAR 3), Engine 13-2 (PAR 3), and Tanker 13-2 (PAR 2) arrived on scene.

The snow storm hit Central Virginia this evening dropping several inches of snow. As a result, Company 13 ran over a half dozen calls. Please be careful during your travels to work in the morning.

At 0224 hrs, Company 13 was dispatched to the 9900 block of Richmond Highway for a single car MVC with ejection. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single vehicle appeared to have flipped end over end in the median strip.

At 1604 hrs, Company 13 was dispatched to a residence on Stonewall Rd in Appomattox County for an apparent lightning strike. Upon arrival found a single story wood frame residential structure with damage to the front pillars and porch.

At 1528 hrs, Company 13 was dispatched for a brush fire in the area of Oxford Furnace Road. As more information came in, the location was changed to Lonesome Oak Drive. Upon arrival 1342 sized up a brush fire that had consumed a storage building and was working its way into the woods.

At 0219 hrs, Company 13 was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Richmond Highway in the area of Moore's Store. Upon arrival, Engine 13-1 (PAR 4) found a utility truck in the median, on its wheels facing the wrong direction.

Like the rest of Central Virginia's Emergency Services, the Concord Volunteer Fire Department was busy with calls related to the wind storm. In all, Company 13 was dispatched to 5 calls that evening that ranged from brush fires to tree collapses resulting in structural damage.

Company 13 and Squad 4 were dispatched for a possible head on collision at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Pleasant Valley Road. Upon arrival, 1346 (Hunter) sized up a 2 car MVC with heavy front end damage to one vehicle and side damage to the other.

At 0500 hrs, Company 13 was dispatched for a cow that was stuck on the railroad tracks near the 6 mile bridge on Mt Athos Road. Upon arrival, Engine 13-1 (PAR 3) and 4R1 (PAR 2) found a 300 pound cow what had a leg trapped between the beams on a railroad bridge.

For the second time in a little over a week, Company 13 was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Stage Road near the Rock Quarry. Engine 13-1 (PAR 6) responded quickly to the scene to find a single vehicle crash with no PI.

Company 13 was dispatched for an MVC on Stage Road in the area of the Rock Quarry. Upon arrival, Engine 13-1 sized up a single vehicle MVC that had been abandoned. Once VSP arrived, all units cleared.
